Izzy’s story of maternal burnout
When Izzy came to me, she was just over a year postpartum with her second baby. On the surface, she was “managing”: back at work, juggling night shifts, raising two young children. But beneath it all, her body and mind were in crisis.
She had suffered from postnatal depression after her second birth, and returning to work made everything feel heavier. Her skin had erupted into painful acne across her cheeks and jawline. Every flare-up left her feeling ashamed, drained, and even less like herself.
Izzy told me she didn’t want to be at work, yet she felt she had no choice. The acne became symbolic—her body saying, “I don’t want to be seen.”
Understanding the Root Causes
At her first session, we used kinesiology to explore what her body truly needed. We discovered that the acne on her cheeks linked directly to her large intestine, showing signs of inflammation and nutrient depletion. She was deficient in zinc and omega 3—both vital for skin healing and hormone balance.
In her second session, we carried out food sensitivity testing. Wheat and cow dairy both flared up her gut, driving her acne further. Her body needed deep nourishment, including collagen and bone broth, to begin repairing her gut lining.
Alongside the physical, we uncovered layers of trapped emotions. Feelings of being unsupported. Beliefs of unworthiness. Self-criticism she couldn’t switch off. Each patch of acne revealed a different emotional thread her body had been holding on to.
By her third session, we were balancing her hormones. She had been missing periods sporadically, a sign her body was overwhelmed. Evening primrose oil was exactly what her system needed to restore balance. We also calmed her adrenal glands to support her deep fatigue and exhaustion.
The Transformation
After four sessions, the shift was remarkable.
Her skin had completely cleared.
Her energy levels had returned.
Her hormones were balanced, and her menstrual cycle regulated.
The constant inner battle of guilt and self-criticism began to ease.
Most importantly, she felt calm, rooted, and supported in her body again.
Why This Matters
Maternal burnout doesn’t only live in the mind—it lives in the body. For Izzy, her skin was the messenger of everything she was carrying: the sleepless nights, the pressure of returning to work, the unprocessed emotions of feeling unsupported.
By working through both the physical and emotional root causes, her body was finally able to find balance.
And look at Izzy now - glowing!!!
